A Kitchen as the Heart of the Home: Bermudez Residence
At the Bermudez Residence, the kitchen was conceived as more than a functional space—it was designed as the architectural core of the home.

The renovation reimagines the kitchen as a place where daily routines, gatherings, and movement naturally converge.
A Kitchen as the Heart of the Home: Bermudez Residence
Back to PortfolioAnchored by a generous central island, the layout establishes a clear spatial hierarchy, allowing the kitchen to mediate between work, dining, and social interaction while remaining visually open and composed.
Materiality and form were approached with restraint and intention. Matte-finish cabinetry in warm neutral tones creates a quiet backdrop, allowing texture to lead the narrative. The island, wrapped in vertical wood slats, introduces rhythm and warmth, balancing the clean lines of the surrounding cabinetry.
Quartz countertops unify the surfaces, offering durability and visual continuity, while integrated storage solutions—concealed pulls, pull-out organizers, and built-in waste systems—ensure the kitchen functions efficiently without disrupting its minimalist expression.
Lighting completes the composition as an architectural layer rather than a decorative add-on. Under-cabinet illumination highlights material depth and supports task efficiency, while the sculptural range hood and ceiling details subtly mark the kitchen’s vertical axis.
As daylight shifts into evening, the space transitions effortlessly—bright and functional by day, warm and atmospheric by night. The result is a kitchen that feels intentional, lived-in, and enduring, reflecting KAHA Modular Construction Corporation’s design philosophy: spaces shaped by proportion, material honesty, and the realities of everyday living.
